Pre-K Program at Trillium Montessori

Ages: 3 to 5 Years

Welcome to Trillium Montessori’s Pre-K Program, designed for children aged 3 to 5 years. Our carefully crafted program offers authentic Montessori experiences tailored to each child’s success. By providing hands-on Montessori materials and concrete experiences, we ensure the proper development of essential skills. Our curriculum emphasizes the all-around development of the child, instilling the confidence needed to meet the challenges of their academic careers.

Our Pre-K Program prepares children for the next step in their educational journey. We focus on fostering independence, confidence, and a love for learning. The program is designed to meet the unique developmental needs of this age group, providing a solid foundation for future academic success.

Montessori and STEAM Approach

At Trillium Montessori, our Pre-K Program integrates the Montessori philosophy with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) approach. This combination ensures that children receive a well-rounded education that is both fun and engaging.

Daily Schedule

A typical day in our Pre-K Program is structured to include a variety of activities that promote academic, social, and physical development. Here’s an example of our daily schedule:

*We provide both snacks and ensure any child needing extra help with potty training receives the assistance of a teacher.

Learning Environment

Our Pre-K Program is designed to offer a clean, safe, and stimulating learning environment. We go above and beyond in our sanitization efforts to minimize the spread of germs. The classroom, including our Primary environment, is arranged to encourage exploration and independence. Montessori materials are easily accessible to children, promoting self-directed learning.

Examples of Activities

Our Pre-K Program includes a variety of activities aimed at promoting all aspects of a child’s development:

  • Erupting Volcano Experiments: Hands-on science activities that teach about chemical reactions.
  • Making Slime: Fun, sensory-rich activities that engage children in scientific exploration.
  • Experiments on Density: Learning about sinking and floating through practical experiments.
  • Monthly Theme-Related Arts and Crafts: Creative projects that align with monthly themes.
  • Water Activities: Interactive play that promotes physical and sensory development.
  • Pretend Play with Costumes: Enhancing imagination and social skills.
  • Yoga with a Certified Instructor: Promoting physical well-being and mindfulness.
  • Sensory Activities: Engaging activities that stimulate the senses and support cognitive growth.

*We provide both snacks and ensure any child needing extra help with potty training receives the assistance of a teacher.

Social and Emotional Development

We place a strong emphasis on social and emotional development. Circle time provides opportunities for children to share, socialize, and express their feelings.

Every Friday, we hold a show and tell session where children bring something from home to present to the class. This helps them learn to speak in front of a crowd and overcome stage anxiety. Group activities are designed to teach cooperation and teamwork.

Developmental Milestones

By the end of our Pre-K Program, children will have achieved several key developmental milestones. They will be able to:

  • Write numbers and understand place values.
  • Grasp the basics of addition and subtraction.
  • Confidently read sight words.
  • Understand basic science concepts and cause & effect relationships.
  • Demonstrate greater self-confidence and self-esteem.
