Toddlers – Ages 18 Months to 3 Years

Our Toddler program works toward creating a strong academic foundation for each child. At this age, children become very curious about the world around them. We help them by guiding their curiosity through one-on-one teaching, providing a small class size, and highly encouraging child- led learning. Trillium Montessori’s teachers are patient and trained to teach essential skills necessary for academic success.

An example of our Toddler program daily schedule includes:

  • Morning welcome
  • Breakfast
  • Montessori time
  • Circle time
  • Snack time
  • Outside playtime
  • Lunch
  • Book reading
  • Nap time
  • Afternoon snack
  • Coloring or painting
  • Group activities
  • Free play until pick up time

*We will provide snacks.

Trillium Montessori provides individualized activities to promote learning and short, timed activities to meet the attention span of the age group. All Montessori material is arranged at the eye level of the children and made easily accessible for exploration. Activities and toys are replaced every week to provide novelty to our little curious and growing minds.

Some examples of daily activities include:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Music time with instruments
  • Planting
  • Hands-on activities geared towards promoting fine motor skills
  • Playing with toys designed for sensory and cognitive development
  • Planting
  • Cleaning
  • Pretend play with puppets

Montessori is a self-paced program allowing each child to pick activities of their choice which in turn promotes learning and independence. By about two years of age during this program, the majority of our toddlers master the basic principles of Montessori.

They will be able to recognize numbers, use the bathroom on their own, hold a pencil appropriately, use scissors properly, sort objects, know the basics of caring for themselves, know how to keep their work area clean, and follow two to three step directions. By completing our Toddler program, your child will also have the skills of talking, singing, expressing emotions, and sharing.
