Pre-K – Ages 3-5 Years

Trillium has carefully designed our Pre-K class to provide authentic Montessori experiences tailored to the success of each child. Our program provides hands-on Montessori material and concrete experiences that ensure the proper development of skills. Our curriculum focuses on the all around development of the child and the instillation of the confidence needed for them to move on to meet the challenging demands of their academic careers.

Our experienced teachers have adapted and incorporated the STEAM approach in lesson plans to give fun experiences in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Examples of activities for our Pre-K program include:

  • Erupting volcano experiments
  • Making slime
  • Experiments on density – sinking and floating
  • Monthly theme-related arts and crafts
  • Water activities
  • Pretend play with costumes
  • Yoga with a certified yoga instructor
  • Sensory activities

We will provide plenty of opportunities for the children to share, socialize, and interact with the goal of social development. Circle time offers the chance for children to talk and express their feelings.

Every Friday we will hold a show and tell where the children will take turns bringing something from home to present in front of the class which will help them to learn to speak in front of a crowd and overcome stage anxiety.

Group activities are held so children can learn how to work cooperatively as well.In this age group, making sure to meet physical, emotional, and social needs is especially important in helping to build an infant’s confidence and trust in themselves and their caregivers. We pride ourselves in offering a clean, safe learning environment and go above and beyond in our sanitization efforts to minimize the potential spreading of germs.

A typical daily schedule includes:

  • Morning welcome
  • Breakfast
  • Montessori time
  • Snack time
  • Circle time
  • Outside play
  • Lunch
  • Academic time (worksheets, reading sight words, books)
  • Nap time
  • Afternoon snack
  • Creativity time
  • Outdoor play
  • Free play until pick up

We will provide both snacks. Any child needing extra help with potty training will receive the assistance of a teacher.

The only requirement for the Pre-K program is for your child to be self-feeding.

By the end of this program, your child will be able to write numbers, understand place values, understand the basics of addition and subtraction, confidently read sight words, understand concepts about science, and understand cause & effect relationships. They will have greater overall self confidence and self esteem and hold the values of kindness, caring, sharing, responsibility, and discipline.
