How Trillium Montessori Made Science Magical with the Water Cycle Project

This March, children at Trillium Montessori embarked on a month-long exploration of the water cycle—an interactive journey filled with discovery and creativity. The Water Cycle Project was designed to spark curiosity and foster a deep understanding of nature’s processes through hands-on learning experiences.

We transformed our classrooms into vibrant water learning stations featuring colorful water cycle visuals and activity centers. Our young scientists eagerly participated in experiments demonstrating evaporation and condensation. Their faces lit up with excitement as they watched the water move—an unforgettable moment!

One of the highlights of the project was creating water cycle diagrams. Children illustrated the life of a water droplet—evaporating from the sea, forming clouds, and returning to Earth as rain. Through this artistic challenge, they gained insight into how water sustains life.

Our teachers skillfully guided these activities, encouraging independent thinking and exploration—core components of our Learn. Grow. Succeed. mission. One special moment stood out when students shared their observations of the water cycle in real life. Their awe and wonder were evident as they made connections between classroom lessons and the natural world outside.

Storytime added an extra layer of magic. Children huddled together to listen to captivating tales about the water cycle, sparking their imaginations and deepening their understanding of environmental stewardship.
