Throughout March, Trillium Montessori is opening children’s eyes to the wonder of seasonal change and the fascinating life cycle of honey bees. Our teachers inspire curiosity as they lead the children on a month-long journey through spring, highlighting new beginnings and growth.
Embracing our core value of hands-on learning and observation, the children are immersing themselves in nature. On nature walks, they observe the budding trees and blooming flowers that announce the arrival of spring. It’s exhilarating to see our little learners, from infants to Pre-K, engaging with the natural world around them.
Story times are filled with tales of spring and honey bees, captivating the children’s attention and sparking lively discussions. These narratives tie into our mission, “Learn. Grow. Succeed.,” emphasizing that spring symbolizes learning, growth, and new beginnings.
The children are creating diagrams of the honey bee’s life cycle, building bee puppets during art projects, and participating in a modeled pollination demonstration. One highlight activity is the creation of a visual timeline for the honey bee’s life cycle, which helps the children actively integrate their learning experiences.
Classrooms are adorned with spring-themed decorations, reflecting the freshness of the season. Art projects created by the children are displayed proudly, showcasing their growing understanding and appreciation of nature and honey bees.
We’re already noticing children sharing their observations with their families, bringing their newfound knowledge home. This enthusiasm is also encouraging more parent participation as they view their children’s spring and honey bee projects.
